Welcome all to another edition of The Pentashield.
What a fantastic last couple of months it has been for the club and its
members. There has been something every weekend since late last year I
think. Be it car shows or events or weddings it is good to see our cars
being used as the owners see fit.
The boys went down to the Summernats and were very well received.
Pete was finally able to smoke the back tyres of his car – see photos
on our web site. Ray Jnr made it to the finals of the burnout comp in
his new and improved VF Pacer. He was robbed of a possible victory by
an easily excited marshal. The club was well received in the grand
parade and I would like to personally like to thank those who did laps
for me.
The Dyno Day was a success given the poor weather we had to contend
with. Numbers were down- especially on the spectator side. But it goes
to show how hard core are the supporters of the Mopar marque. Even Mick
from Micks Motor Sport thought the day would be postponed because of
the stormy weather, hence the late start. Horsepower numbers were down
a bit from last year, but it was still a very memorable day. See
elsewhere for a full rundown of the day.
Sydney Car Festival saw Ray Jnr have another go at the burnout comp and
was rewarded with a well deserved first in the 6cyl class. It has been
most fascinating watching Ray develop the car and see it how it is what
it is today. It is going to be further improved in the near future and
I’d like to see the finished product.
Personally I went down to the Charger Car Club of Victoria annual 25th
show & shine and was impressed with the quality of cars on show.
Victoria is the home of the tough Charger. I was lucky to catch up with
Mick Gionfriddo and went for a cruise with him and a couple of his
mates.
Today was our 10th annual Darling Harbour display day. For once the
weather was not unkind. A big thank you for all those who made the day
happen and to all our entrants. Also a big, big thank you to our
sponsors for all their generous donations.
We have our Drag Day coming up in April and it is looking very promising. We can confirm the inclusion of a Dodge Viper.
Albury is just around the corner and once again this is a must do event. Hope to see a few faces down there.
Enjoy your MOPAR however you see fit and take care out on the roads.
Regards,
Gerry
