FROM THE EDITOR’S DESK
Welcome to the October 2004 issue of The Pentashield.
This month we have three feature articles viz:
- A technical article on points to look for when purchasing that “Project Car”.
- A film review of “The French Connection” by Hugh Savage.
- A short technical article on the A500 Transmission by Gerry Rivet.
As well as some Committee Member reports, and an updated Events
Schedule, we have some thoughts on the humour of life scattered
throughout the magazine. I have also included some items of a technical
nature that may interest readers. And there are even a few “For Sale”
advertisements!
As previously discussed in these pages I would like to introduce a
Readers Forum in the magazine, commencing with the December issue. This
Forum will be for the benefit of all members and, of course, will
require member contributions to be informative and topical. In order to
get this feature started I would like to suggest the following topics-:
a) Keeping your Mopar running as a daily driver – tips and suggestions.
b) The pro’s and con’s of increasing the horsepower of your Mopar above factory specs.
c) Why do you own and drive your Mopar? – Readers contributions and discussion.
This list is not exhaustive and readers can introduce new topics to the
Forum. All you have to do is send me an E-Mail or Letter, together with
your contribution, and I will include it in the topic list in the next
issue. Do not worry about the English in your contribution as the
Editor would be happy to redraft the article if required. It is
probable that there will be no contributions on some of the topics in
every issue so that the topic list will vary from issue to issue. So
get your thinking caps on and send me a few suggestions, just as Mark
MacNamara has done in the Letters to the Editor Section.!
Cheers,
Michael October 2004
Letters to the Editor
The Editor,
Thanks for giving us the opportunity to provide suggestions for The
Pentashield. I've found the past few issues you've published
since I joined CAVOA an enjoyable and worthwhile read.
Like many CAVOA members my particular interest in Chryslers goes back
to childhood. I was 21 years old when I finally bought my own.
I'd love the opportunity to share some memories of my first Valiant
with CAVOA members and I reckon other CAVOA members would also relish
the opportunity. I propose a regular feature - My First Chrysler,
where members are invited to write a few paragraphs and provide a photo
or two if possible of the first of these wonderful machines they were
lucky enough to own. For anyone who's a bit shy or unsure how to
approach such an article, I'll have a go at interviewing them.
I hope you'll agree this has the potential to get everyone involved as
it would probably be a very personally satisfying contribution for each
of us to make.
Mark MacNamara
