Events Report April 2004
Welcome to another eventful report.
The Dyno Day proved so popular and was such a great success we have
decided to make it a yearly event as there was such a variety of cars
on the day. Everything from stock standard to slightly modified to down
right high-performance streetcars. Never having tried out my Charger on
a dyno I didn’t have a clue as to what to expect and was very surprised
to get 170hp at the rear wheels. Other entrants were also surprised at
how much, or how little, they achieved. The best on the day was a
Charger with a 360 V8 which achieved 330 plus hp and a very good 265
Hemi that cracked 300hp. None of the big blocks got over 300hp, which
was a surprise!
Chryslers on the Murray was a great success again and
congratulations must go the Albury Wodonga Chrysler club for a
fantastic weekend. The new venue was better than the Hovell tree
reserve with more controlled access and more shade. With over 360 cars
on display it is a must see event on the show calendar. My Chrysler by
Chrysler was finished just in time for the show with both Ray’s doing a
wonderful job on the restoration. It was getting to the point with the
car that I either had to spend the money or scrap it. I’m glad I spent
the money!
Coming up we have the All Chrysler day run on the 18th April.
We are meeting at McGraths Hill at 9.00AM at the McDonalds Blackstump
car park. Then on to Wisemans ferry. Bring something to cook, as there
will be BBQ’s available.
May 16th we have a club run to The Entrance where we hope to
meet up with the Newcastle Mopars. We will be meeting at Thornleigh
McDonalds at 8:30 for a 9:00 departure.
Sunday the 13th June is the next Mopar Muster and is the
Sunday of the long weekend; this run is being organized by the doyen of
Mopars Ray Jnr in conjunction with the Mopar Market web site. They will
be meeting at Uncle Leos at the cross roads at 7:30 for an 8:00 am
departure with a further pick-up point at Bulli Lookout at the top of
Bulli pass. The run then goes on to Killalea, which is near Shell
Harbour.
I need to now how many people are going on our Winter Escape
weekend to Broulee Caravan Park, which is near Bateman’s Bay, on the
17/18th July. I need numbers at the April meeting and deposits at the
latest by the May meeting. I have the information on what type of
accommodation is available and the costs, so please contact me if you
need any more information.
Club Registration.
If you have a car that you only want
to use on club outings (and not just our club), and it is original, and
you only want to spend $ 70 per year on rego, then ask me about
Historic Rego! We are now in a position to commence the registration
programme with full RTA approval to register Club cars.
All the best in Mopar,
Graham.
