Events Report February 2004
Welcome to another eventful report. Firstly I would like to wish all
our readers a very happy and prosperous new year. By now you have
probably broken all your good new years’ resolutions!
Since our last magazine the Christmas party at Rhodes was a great
success with the weather as usual perfect. Ray went to the Summernats
Festival in Canberra and I am sure he will report on it in the
president’s column.
The breakfast run in January, although poorly attended,
provides a great opportunity to drive around Sydney when there is next
to no traffic and enjoy bacon and eggs etc looking over one of the best
views in Sydney.
Our 9th Display day at Darling Harbour, although down on
numbers this year, was very successful due to the quality of the cars
that did arrive. Thanks to all those who made a great effort to be
there and help organize a great day. Thanks also to Barnados who helped
by providing the main raffle prizes donated to them by the main
attractions in the Darling Harbour area. First prize in the raffle
gives you a weekend in Sydney for free! Over night accommodation at the
Holiday Inn, Bridge Climb, Lunch cruise on the harbour and a pass for
the Sydney maritime museum, and all for a single dollar. So don’t miss
out next year!
There is a list of the Darling Harbour sponsors in this
magazine so please use their services and mention their sponsorship of
our display day. Trophies for the day are for Entrants Choice and
Peoples Choice and this year the same car, a very special Magenta
Challenger, won both.
Coming up we have the Dyno shootout on the 29th February,
Chryslers on the Murray 12th 14th March and if you haven’t entered yet
do so ASAP as space is limited and accommodation near the site is at a
premium.
I am hoping to plan a run to a Go-Kart track in the near
future but I need to know numbers of people interested, we would need
at least 30 to make it viable so let me know ASAP.
Graham.
