As this is the first issue of the magazine since the Annual General
Meeting I would like to thank the members for again re-electing me to
the position. Also we now have two new positions to assist us with the
events side of our calendar; I welcome Gerard Rivet to the Sporting
Events Coordinator and Ray Webb Jnr as the Car Show Coordinator. The
first Sporting event to be held will be a Dyno Shootout on November 2nd
at Milperra. If you wish to enter then make sure you have your entry in
by the October Meeting!
Previously, our run in August to Nowra visited the HMAS
Albatross Air Museum, which provided a great way to view the aircraft
you don’t normally see as they are normally based at sea on aircraft
carriers. Our stop for lunch was in the grounds of the naval base and
just as we started cooking the base security turned up. Thinking we
were about to be chucked out they announced “they only wanted to look
at the cars”!
September saw our annual run to Berrima with the Commodore Club. It was
quieter than usual probably because of the wet start to the day in
Sydney but it fined up and turned out to be a great day at Berrima. We
drove the scenic route through Mittagong and took the salute from Ray
Senior’s dad at Welby. The American Car Nationals in Queenbeyan were
held on the 28th. This is the old Canberra Chrysler Club but because of
editorial deadlines has not yet happened. Also there is the Chrysler
Expo in Brisbane on the 5th of October that we will report on in the
next issue
We have a busy time ahead coming up to Christmas starting with
All Chrysler day on the 19th of October and the Cooma Motorfest on the
15th November. If you are going to this one you will need to make a
weekend of it as it is a long way for a day trip. Don’t forget the
Christmas party on the 14th December.
As I have been elected to the position of Club Registrar I
intend to have this job up and running as soon as possible. I will need
a list of members and cars that meet the requirements so please contact
me on the number listed in the magazine or email at
We will also be publishing details of the
requirements for Historic Registration in the next magazine so look out
for it.
