June 2001 PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 01 June 2001
HI MOPAR LOVERS,

Firstly I have to say congratulations to Charlene and Ray on the birth of their new son Cooper, he is my fourth grandchild, and what a little beauty he is too.

Since my last report we have been to Albury for the Chryslers on the Murray Show and as always they had an excellent show with over 304 vehicles of excellent quality. There certainly was something for everyone. We had approximately 17 cars on display and several deservedly won trophies on the day. In particular Strat Georgeadis for his stunning AP6 wagon, Laurie Finlayson with his excellent VG Pacer and Maryanne and Gerard Rivet for their CL Charger Police Special. Well done all of you, and a special well done to the Albury Wodonga Chrysler Club, for there efforts in putting on the best Chrysler Show in Australia.

On a sadder note I was recently advised of the passing away of one of our club members Tom O'Donnell. He was a club member for about 5 years, and had been battling disease for several years. In the time that I had met Tom he was a true gentleman and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Our April meeting was to be a special event with guest speaker Leo Geogehgan, and I was very pleased to see a big turnout of club members for this special event. However our guest speaker failed to show. I have heard that he has been ill for some time and hope to fulfill this at a later date. However our guest speaker for June Meeting will be Damon Beck well known for his prowess in racing Chargers. We will keep our fingers crossed but as I have spoken to Damon several times it should be OK.

Another of our club members is moving away, Garry and Sue Bannik are making the big move to sunny Queensland. Garry has been a mainstay in this club for a good number of years and was heavily involved in the resurrection of this club when it fell apart nearly ten years ago. His input to this club will be missed and we wish Sue and Garry the best in their future ventures.

Speaking of future ventures good news for all Chrysler fans will be the introduction of a new Chrysler Magazine titled "Slick Six Pacs" being put together by two Mopar guru's, Scott Taylor and Phil Bryant. These guys have a wealth of knowledge of the Chrysler product and heaps of good ideas to put into print. This new 'mag' will cater for ALL Chrysler enthusiasts, with feature cars, tech articles, etc. I urge ALL members to get behind this publication and support it with your own subscription. Let's face it there is nothing else out there on the newstands for us!

Next club run is our Winter Weekend Escape. This year we are going to Cowra, leaving Eastern Creek 'Macca's at 8am. If you want to go, make sure you ring Graham to ensure a room. I'm looking forward to this one, hope they have an open fire in the bar??

That's all to bore you with this time see ya on the street.

Yours in MOPAR.

Ray.
