Welcome to another Events Report.
Well, what an exciting 2 months it has been. April saw the Easter run
to Armidale by the Chrysler Restorers Club to meet up with the Chrysler
Club of Queensland. I personally could not attend as I had family
commitments and I don't fancy driving over holiday periods.
Our run to Katoomba on the 29th April turned out to be a very
good day. We arrived in Katoomba to showers and low cloud but as the
day progressed it fined up and we had a great BBQ overlooking the
valleys. The new cable car at the scenic railway provides a very good
way down into the valley but the ride up on the old scenic railway is
just as scary as I remember it as a kid many years ago. The Edge Imax
Cinema has an excellent film of the story of the Blue Mountains with
some very spectacular footage shot from a Helicopter which on the big
screen is awesome.
The All Chrysler Day run on the 20th May to Maitland would
have been great apart from the weather. The run up was good but as we
arrived at the Goal it clouded over and started to rain, which spoiled
our BBQ. The tour of the Goal was very interesting as the Goal has only
been closed recently and it looks like there should still be inmates
there or at least haunting the place. It was a very long day even
missing out on the extra part of the cruise to Morpeth and most did not
get home before 7:30 that night.
The Club meeting in May was the best attended I have been to
and even though our guest speaker did not turn up we made up for it
with some very good raffle prizes.
The next run is on the 16th and 17th June which is our Winter
Escape weekend. This year we are going to Cowra, so far there are 6
cars going and the hotel I have booked could accomodate 3 more doubles.
We will be meeting Saturday morning at Eastern Creek Service Center on
the M4 Motorway at 7.30am for a 8.00am departure.
July 15th is the run to Narrabeen Lakes, we haven't been for a while and I have been told it's not a bad run.
Also don't miss the Liverpool Super Swap in July at the Fairfield Showgrounds if you need any parts.
The events calendar from the last magazine has changed slightly
with the Berrima run moved from 16th September to the 23rd September.
Also Adam Stables our representative on the All Chrysler Day
Committee needs a second member of the club to attend the committee
meeting and assist with the running of the ACD events. Any member that
can assist please contact Adam or a Committee member.
Just a word on departure points around Sydney that we use regularly,
Going North it's the McDonalds at Thornleigh on Pennant Hills Road,
Going West it's the Service Center on the M4 Motorway at Eastern Creek,
Going South West it's the Burmah Service Station (Leo's Diner) at the Cross Roads just before the M5 entrance,
Going South it's the Caltex Service Station at Heathcote just south of the Heathcote Rd Princess Highway Junction.
And going Northwest and other places aroung Sydney we use the
McDonalds at Silverwater, Corner of Parramatta Rd and St Hilliers Road
near the M4 Junction.
Good Moparing.
