Where is the year going? Unfortunately not much cruising time has been happening lately. HWY-318 has been off the road since March but will hopefully be back soon. The car is at the transmission specialist as you read this and the news isn’t as dire as I first thought: I was quiet relieved when I went to have a look at the trans with her undies down and not find a dust pan full of parts. It’s a bit of a shame I haven’t been able to drive her much through winter. The days are starting to get a tad warmer and the evenings a little longer. Things have been a bit more quiet than usual but please keep an eye on the Events Calendar as this is about to change.

I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank all members of the committee with all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes to keep the wheels of CAVOA turning. It is a job with little reward but great satisfaction. If you haven’t been to an event before or it has been a while, why don’t you come down and join us? We don’t bite and I would like to catch up and see your pride and joy. Even if your Mopar is off the road just turn up in whatever you can and come along for the ride

Whilst there are still events between now and then, high on my agenda is a return trip to the Chrysler Club of South Australia’s All Chrysler Day. The plan will be to leave ‘rudely’ early on Thursday morning and get there Thursday night. Friday would see a trip to the Birdsville Museum (or the Barossa Valley for the ladies), then an afternoon of cleaning cars and then a trip to the Chrysler Bar. Saturday will be the Super cruise - which from the DVD was a SUPER cruise - and a little R & R. Sunday the show and swap meet, then an early night before another rude early start in the morning for the return trip with a smile on our face all the way home. You will see some cars you ain’t seen before and you will be sure to meet some nice folk. I know not everyone can make it but it would be nice to see a small convoy go across. But I will state this - with the price of petrol continually rising I can’t see this trip being affordable for too much longer. So if you want to take your ride to stretch its legs this is a good opportunity - and you get to iron out any bugs for Albury approximately 3 weeks later. I love being a Chrysler enthusiast!

Thank you for electing me President again as I would like to see the club continue to grow. In the near future we will hopefully be able to have our first circuit day and this should be interesting to say the least. I would like to congratulate all members of the committee who were recently voted in by their peers and to thank all members who made the effort to be at the AGM, especially those who had to travel a great distance. I would like to offer a big welcome to Peter Garden, who is the new Social Events Director, and to Hugh Savage who has accepted the role of Assistant Magazine Editor. Well done guys!

Till next time,

Gerry
