Welcome
to the February 2006 issue of The Pentashield.
We are now back to the normal
timetable for the publication of the Pentashield and, on alternate months, the
Pentasheet. My apologies for missing the past issue.
This issue features the following -:
- A review of the new Chrysler
300C.
- Technical Reports on various
topics.
- An article by Hugh Savage on
driving hints to save fuel.
As usual we have included Committee
Member reports from Gerry and Nik and we have an updated Events Schedule.
There are of course some additional
items of wisdom and of a humorous nature.
For this issue I made valiant
attempts to get permission from the Publishers of COSMOS magazine to reprint an
interesting article on the future development of motor vehicles. They
eventually agreed to allow publication in our magazine but wanted to charge us
for the privilege! Their offer was politely refused so unfortunately it has not
been published in this issue and will not be published in any future issue.
Articles
of this type often appear in various publications and I have found that editors
show reluctance in allowing permission to reprint their articles in our type of
magazine. Why this is so I have no idea. Perhaps it is because they think that
it will reduce their circulation figures! Nevertheless it is worth pursuing
them in the future as the articles often have a bearing on the interests of our
club members.
Our resident film reviewer Hugh
Savage is becoming known outside the club. Last month I received feedback from
another state about his reviews and a request to reprint an article in their
magazine. This request is a tribute to the quality of Hugh’s contributions.
Cheers,
Michael
