It seems the silly season comes earlier
each year, and 2005 is no different. Only 3 months till the end of the year.
That’s not to say this year is over. There are still many upcoming events
between now and 2006, and I must admit it will be a challenge to attend them
all. I never thought I would do a bit of traveling with the club. There is
nothing better than going for a drive with your mates and seeing the
countryside. Our own club calendar has had us go to Berrima, Tamworth and then Canberra within 3 weeks.
Some brave people have been lucky enough to enjoy all three events.
Congratulations go out to Phil and Sue and
all the team who made the 2nd Tamworth Nationals what they are. Even though the
weather was a bit dodgy I don’t think it stopped anyone from having a great
time. The quality of cars was sensational as was the company. It was good to
catch up with some old mates. I would like to get a small contingent to go to
the South Australian Chrysler club next year. There has been a surprising
amount of interest from several club members so I think it will be very
do-able. I believe the date is for the 26th of Feb 2006.
Watching the news tonight, it feels like
the early 70’s again (although I am not old enough to remember them). Ford and
Holden are still at it hammer and tongs trying to out-do each other in the
muscle car stakes and the price of petrol is on everyone’s lips. If the prices
stay as they are I think there will be some absolute bargains out there to be
had. Unfortunately the price of petrol is limiting the amount of cruising to be
done. It will be interesting when the new hemi is released at the end of the
year with its displacement on demand.
For those who have not already done so,
club Membership is NOW DUE. If this is not paid you will be taken off the
mailing list. We have both this and lasts years’ Darling Harbour T Shirts for
sale at $5 a pop. Club shirts are available and are at most club meetings and
will also be at All Chrysler Day. Due to the success of the club jackets, if
there is enough interest there will be another production run. If you are
interested in a jacket, drop me an email with your preferred size. Also if you
are going to pre-enter for All Chrysler Day can you do so soon as it makes the
event organisers job a lot easier.
We tried to have Leo Geoghegan come to our
September club meeting but unfortunately ill health prevented his presence. We
wish Leo a speedy recovery and hope he can join us a club meeting in the near
future. Keep an eye on the calendar for a “DUKES of HAZZARD” drive-in night.
Until next time, safe motoring
