::: ATTENTION MEMBERS ~ IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT :::

CHANGES TO MOPARMARKET.COM

Within the next coming weeks, some changes to MoparMarket.com advertising guidelines will be initiated. These changes include the following :

~ Removal of all commercial vendor/sponsor advertising

~ Minor frontpage layout changes

Q : How will these changes affect my MoparMarket.com exerpience ?

A : The removal of vendor/sponsor advertising will not affect the average enthusiast advertiser in any way at all. It will however prevent future advertising spamming that has taken place on occassion by vendors, taking advantage of the services MoparMarket.com provides. This means that MoparMarket.com is 'strictly' for private advertisers only, no commercial business accounts will be created.

Q : What is the difference between a private advertiser & a commercial advertiser ?

A : A commercial advertiser can be distinguished by the following : An individual, business, company or legal entity that is selling products and/or services in quantity, specifically for the purpose of generating income.

Q : What happens if I am a current vendor/sponsor ?

A : Once the changes have been implented, your vendor/sponsor account will be suspended and your sponsor fees will be refunded in full. You will then have the ability to initiate a private account if you have not done this already which you will be free to use as required for non-commercial advertising. Please contact us if this is not clear, I will be happy to offer a walk through on how to do this.

Q : Why are these changes being implemented ?

A : Many of you would be aware that although I operate MoparMarket.com, I am also the owner and operator of Pentastar Parts & Restorations. It has been suggested that the MoparMarket.com website has become a selling tool for PP&R which provides my business with an unfair advantage over market competitors. I will admit that MoparMarket.com was the stepping stone to starting PP&R, in fact this website was responsible for me opening my eyes to the need for another Mopar specialist outlet. Although I disagree with the accusations of 'not playing fair', I believe these changes to be the only diplomatic way to move forward.

Make no mistake, MoparMarket.com needs a website sponsor and Pentastar Parts & Restorations will fill that role. However abiding by the new site guidelines, PP&R will not have access to mainstream advertising facilities, in fact the PP&R account will be removed. PP&R's representation will only be displayed by way of a modest sidebar banner as you would find on many popular websites.

There is another side to this decision. It is a topic of much contention that I happen to feel very passionate about, especially being so closely involved. I do not agree that individuals or "want to be' businesses selling parts and services for our cars are doing any favours for our hobby at all. It is no secret that parts can be brought into this country in a manner that eludes many of the costs associated with 'legitimate' importing methods. This is risky business and offenders are penalised severely, however the envelope is still pushed. My concern is this, everytime a product of this nature is sold and a sale lost through mainstream commercial avenues, ofcoarse the end-user has some instant financial benefit but the profits that have been stripped from a legitimate business no longer have the opportunity to benefit the hobby.

I want to make one thing absolutely crystal clear because I know all too well how easy statements can be misconstrued over the internet. These statements are in an effort to support ALL Australian specialist Chrysler outlets, not just PP&R. Namely I speak of establishments like Hemi Performance, Elko, Bluestar Spares, & ofcoarse Pentastar Parts & Restorations, all of which don't want to simply take your money but invest the proceeds into additional products that will ensure the future and quality of Chrysler, Valiant, Dodge & Plymouth vehicles in Australia. Today, we have the largest array of reproduction items for Australian Mopars than anyone would have anticipated just a few years ago, without enthusiast support of these products, the future of these parts and more is questionable and that my friends would be a damn shame !

These new changes to the MoparMarket.com advertising guidelines are a direct result of my objection to this kind of advertising and to assist in controlling some minor priveledge abuse issues. I have no doubt that this decision will put some noses out of joint, and if there is anything I can do to assist in understanding these changes in more detail, please feel free to contact me directly rayman440@moparmarket.com .Thank you all for your continued support.

kind regards,

Ray (Jr)
